I took a moment this weekend to reflect on Father’s Day last year compared to this year and wow – we have come so far! It was such a great weekend and I felt so lucky to be able to spend the weekend with both of my parents in Saint Paul. We planned a few fun things to do while they were here and it was a great way to kick off summer.
Friday
Friday night Ryan and I took my parents to dinner at Acqua in White Bear Lake. It’s a great spot if you want to have dinner by the water. The restaurant has a large patio that sits in the marina at White Bear Lake and you can watch the boats come in and out while dining al fresco. They are currently doing a three-course tasting menu and you can get all the seafood you could possibly eat. I would also highly recommend the Italian Basil Mojito to really give you island vibes.
Saturday
On Saturday we had a packed day of fun that kicked off with Queen Drag Brunch at Crave. Every weekend, the downtown Minneapolis location of Crave hosts a drag brunch with a theme that changes daily. This Saturday, the theme was Queen so of course we had to go. It was a gorgeous day and the performers were incredible. Did I mention bottomless mimosas? I could not recommend hitting up the drag brunch at Crave more.

We ended our day with a Saints game in downtown St. Paul. The Saint Paul Saints are the Minnesota Twins AAA team and their state-of-the-art stadium in downtown St. Paul is fantastic. Tickets are cheaper than you’d typically find at an MLB game and the stadium is small enough to feel intimate. The fact that it was a perfect weather evening didn’t hurt either.

Sunday
Sunday was a great, lazy Father’s Day. We hung around the house, watched the U.S. Open and grilled out. Ryan’s parents were able to come over so we could all hang out together, grill burgers and have a perfect topper to a great weekend. My dad is a culinary arts graduate and he also made a fabulous key lime pie, an ode to our wedding in the Florida Keys!

How did you spend Father’s Day? How did you usher in the official start to summer?
