We’re Baaaack: Viva Las Vegas!

After a year hiatus… we were back in Vegas for Labor Day weekend! Ryan and I started going to Las Vegas every Labor Day weekend back in 2015 and we hadn’t missed a year until 2020, so it was wonderful to be back. We always stay at the Flamingo because we love the location and the price can’t be beat. The pool there is also 21+ so it’s great if you don’t want to be surrounded by kids the entire weekend. Our typical schedule is we fly out on Thursday and come home Sunday so that we have Monday to recover before returning to work. We’ve shuffled that schedule around slightly, but in general that’s what we stick to.

Thursday – Arrival

Check into Flamingo around 5PM and head to the Bellagio Sportsbook to watch the Gophers-Ohio State football game. We were meeting friends there that evening who wanted to watch the football game and we love watching sports at sportsbooks. Ryan and I had dinner at Noodles in the Bellagio and then our group headed over to Caesars Palace to see Absinthe. If you are looking for a show to go to I cant recommend this more. This is the third time I’ve seen it and I love it more every time. Think Cirque du Soleil meets dirty comedy.

Friday

Friday was pool day! We headed down to the Flamingo Go Pool and this year we sprung for a day bed. We talk about doing this every year and this was worth every penny. You get your own day bed with pool space, umbrella and waitress. It’s a great way to spend those hot Vegas days. Friday night we had dinner at Sushi Roku in Caesars and that night our group headed to Hakkasan in MGM to see Illenium. We decided to spring for bottle service at the club for my birthday and I cannot recommend that more, especially if you have a larger group.

Saturday

Saturday was definitely a lazy day for us since we spent the entire night before partying. We laid in bed and watched football, I was able to get my favorite In-N-Out Burger and we mostly just recovered. We finally decided to go out and hit the Carnaval Court at Harrah’s (a secret favorite spot of ours) and went to dinner at Bugsy & Meyer’s Steakhouse at the Flamingo. We wanted to check out the new Resorts World so the group headed there and we were able to get in to the speakeasy there, Kitty Kitty. This was a must-go spot!

Sunday – Departure

We usually try to book a later flight out on Sunday so that we can relax, have brunch and not be rushed in the morning. We had brunch at Border Grille at Mandalay Bay and then just walked the strip and gambled a little more until it was time to leave.

Every year we’ve gone to Vegas the trip is a little different. We usually have an open invite to friends, but we always have a great group with us. We had a blast this year and we can’t wait for next year. What’s your favorite thing to do in Vegas?
